January 10th ~ Italian Wines...
Cesari Pinot Grigio Roasted caramelized almond, banana bread and
candied fruit smells characterize a wine that is smooth, but tangy in the mouth,
with good persistence.
Stellina di Notte Pinot Grigio meaning "little night star," is a
classic example of Pinot Grigio from the Delle Venezie Region of Italy. This
Pinot Grigio features alluring aromas of melon, kiwi, and golden apple. Smooth
and silky on the palate, it offers lush tropical fruit and citrus flavors,
balanced by a pleasant minerality.
Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva This wine shows crisp, ripe red berry
and cherry fruit flavors and aromas sustained by a fresh, acidic note offset by
classic Sangiovese notes of earth, mushrooms and leather, with an elegant tannic
backbone.
Machiavelli Chianti Classico Riserva Always good this Machiavelli
Chianti Classico Riserva is a pleasant food wine; matches well with oven baked
pork chops accented with fresh rosemary sprigs.
Capestrano Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Deep ruby color with some violet
reflection. Aromas of strawberry, and ripe fruit. On the palate it is dry, rich
with a great body. Excellent structure with a firm finish.
Calvano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano The wine deep ruby in color with
garnet highlights. The nose is vivid, with assertive wild cherry fruit and
nuances of nutmeg and cinnamon spice and hints of violet. The sweet fruit
impressions are repeated on the palate along with firm, well-structured tannins
and acidity in a well-balanced, slightly rustic style that is very distinctive
and lively.
Cesari Mara Ripasso Lovely ripe nose of berries, cassis and a hint of
mushroom. Velvety and ripe yet dry with an exceptionally long, elegant finish. A
wonderfully food-friendly wine - perfect with roast pork or game.
Cesari Amarone Typical aromas of ripe fruit, fruit preserve and cherry
are immediately perceived but then particularly striking is the incredible long
finish that lingers on the palate, the wine displays all its strength through a
warm and elegant body.
